From January to March: Red Carpet Fashion Shows
Golden Globes: 2nd Sunday in January. Often considered the warm-up for the Oscars, the ceremony is held at the Beverly Hilton, completely blocking the Beverly Hills area.
Grammy Awards: 2nd Sunday in February. The Grammy Awards take place at the Staples Center, honoring the best musical artists and technicians.
Oscars: Last week of February. Watched by a billion viewers, there's no need to introduce the Academy Awards ceremony. Register in September for a chance to win one of the 700 Red Carpet fan bleacher seats, allowing you to stand in front of the Dolby Theatre.
From April to June: Time for Music
Coachella: Mid-April. Considered the avant-garde of music and fashion, Coachella opens the festival season in Indio, east of Los Angeles, welcoming over 125,000 festival-goers, including celebrities in VIP areas.
Cinco de Mayo: May 5. Mexico's biggest holiday is commemorated in L.A.'s Latino neighborhoods, such as Olvera Street, with music and margaritas filling the streets until the wee hours.
Doheny Blues Festival: Mid-May. Located south of L.A., this blues festival is known throughout the country, having featured famous musicians like B.B. King.
LA Pride Week: Early June. A week filled with parties and concerts culminates in an extravagant parade on Sunday, celebrating the rights of LGBTQ+ communities.
LA Film Festival: 2nd half of June. Featuring more than a hundred feature films, this festival surprises many by taking place in Downtown LA instead of Hollywood.
From July to September: Surfing and Art
Independence Day: July 4th. The U.S. Independence Day Fireworks Show is held annually at the Hollywood Bowl, featuring a concert and a stunning fireworks display in a beautiful outdoor setting.
International Surf Festival: Early August. A large gathering of athletes from ages 8 to 80 compete in surfing, paddle, and volleyball events.
Los Angeles County Fair: 3 weeks in September. This massive fair is the largest in North America, showcasing exhibitors of art, textiles, technology, and a wide variety of products, highlighting L.A.'s counterculture. Concerts and a funfair are also part of the festivities.
Abbot Kinney Festival: Last Sunday in September. An art fair featuring products from independent stores, along with concerts and activities for children on one of the coolest streets in the USA.
From October to December: End-of-Year Celebrations
Halloween: October 31. More than 500,000 people in costume participate in the West Hollywood Halloween Costume Carnival, parading down Santa Monica Boulevard.
Hollywood Christmas Parade: Thursday after Thanksgiving. Taking place on Hollywood Boulevard and Sunset Boulevard, this event brings together visitors and showbiz stars for a media spectacle leading up to Christmas.
